THE TRINITY COLLECTION

The TRINITY COLLECTION represents one of our best sources of personal gifts as it encompasses so many themes that appeal to many different interests  Each plate is designed and created in the Mellor Studio in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, by a team of Staffordshire artists under the watchful eye of Mr. Nicholas Mellor who has earned the distinctive title of Master Lithographer. He has often been commissioned by internationally famous companies, such as Danbury Mint and The Hamilton Collection, to produce plates for their collector editions which have been sold throughout the world. He was commissioned by the Jaguar Motor Company to create a plate honouring their 100th year of producing quality automobiles and was later contracted to produce a 40th anniversary plate honouring the Mini Cooper; two top holiday gifts for men to place in their den, study or office.

The TRINITY COLLECTION currently consists of over 45 individual plates in sets of three associated with a given theme. Shortly after the tragic death of Princess Diana, a commemorative plate was added by his studio in her memory with an amount from each sale to be contributed to one of her favourite charities. Since then,  Mellor Studio has designed and produced a new commemorative plate honouring the 100th birthday of the Queen Mother which has become a very popular gift over the past two years for those who follow the Royal Family. All of our plates are sold both individually and in sets. Due to the wide range of subjects, we have placed them on the list of  last minute valentine gifts, with plates from our cat collection leading the way.

The TRINITY COLLECTION is produced on Fine English Porcelain plates and bordered with 22 karat gold. Each plate measures between 8 inches and 8.25 inches in diameter and comes in a presentation box. Because we purchase in large quantities and do not pay the VAT, we receive a priced break which we pass on to our customers.

HORSE AND CIRCUS BRASSES

Are you looking for a unique gifts or collectibles for that special person?  Our British horse brass and door knocker collections may be just what you are looking for. Some designs would make a great gifts for men while others would be more appropriate as special gifts for women, such as the English Rose horse brass or the Valentine / Two Lovers door knocker. The  Number 10  door knocker is the same door knocker found on the front door of the Prime Ministers residence at Number 10 Downing Street in London. Our line of lion themed door knockers serve as a bold statement greeting visitors. Perhaps one of your selections for St. Patrick's Day gifts may be found in our expanding collection of horse brasses which is one of the broadest collections in North America. How about the Irish Shamrock (the three leafs represent the Holy Trinity) , Irish Harp horse brasses or the Shamrock Claddagh door knocker for celebrating this special day?  Each is highly collectible, decorative and with a story of its own. Old English inns, hotels, manor homes, and pubs would not be the same without their collections of horse brasses proudly displayed individually or in groups attached to martingales hanging from ceiling beams, support posts or on brick/stone fireplaces. A rare find is the Circus brass which is a larger cousin to the horse brass. We have only a limited supply of these as they are no longer being produced commercially due to the high cost of copper.

If you are looking for coworker gifts, search through our horse brass designs and follow the history of man from the beginning of civilization, through the time of the Roman invasion of England 1000 years ago, the period of the Crusades when Christians marched across Europe to the Middle East to retake their Holy Land's, to the present. They are steeped in tradition and superstition,

depicting what was important to the people of the time, from the fear of the unknown to pride of family ancestory. Some of our designs were influenced by amulets made over 4000 years ago in the Middle East, which were brought to Europe by returning crusaders. The earlier pieces were designed primarily to protect  the bearer from the invisible "evil eye." There is a subject of interest for everyone...from superstition, religion, cathedrals, castles, military units, history, heraldry, to places of interest. We also offer martingales on which to attach horse brasses for display.

Collectors seek quality brasses that contain a high copper content for durability and depth of colour. Copper has become an expensive metal, thus, cheaper reproductions contain less copper and more zinc, tin and alloys are commonly found in tourist shops. All of our brass wares are made of first-run ingot brass rich in copper, making them of heirloom quality to be passed on to future generations.

Collectors also pay close attention to the martingales on which the brasses are attached. Cheaper reproductions look like leather, but are of leatherette which is stiff, brittle and lasts only about two years before cracking or breaking. Our martingales are cut from English harness leather for a lifetime of beauty;  D rings and attached buckles are made with only the best quality solid brass. We believe our horse brasses, martingales and solid brass doorknockers will be among the top 10 holiday gifts of the year.

THE WIDECOMBE FAIR CHARACTER JUG COLLECTION

Are you looking for inexpensive coworker gifts and collecibles?  Widecombe Fair collection of character jugs are what you are looking for. From the moors of Devon comes this unusual fun gift that originated from the Widecombe Fair, held every year (even during both World Wars) since the early 19th century. The Fair was the result of an idea by the Vicar of Widecombe who figured a way to increase dwindling male attendance during his Sunday services. He decided to sponsor archery competitions after church services every Sunday. The catch was that participants had to attend services before taking part in the sporting event. It worked and the local archers became quite good from all the practice they received. In fact, they became so good, merchants decided it would be "neighborly" to invite villagers from the surrounding countryside by holding an annual fair which would include a competition to name the best archer for the year. When the Fair draws to a close, everyone joins in singing a song that tells of a comical unfolding of events that occured one year during the journey by Uncle Tom Cobley and all. We include a copy of the song with each purchase of character jugs.

The character jugs in the Widecombe Fair collection of Uncle Tom Cobley and his friends are handmade and handpainted at the small "one man" pottery shop in Widecombe. The regular size character jug stands about 3.5 inches high with a diameter of about 2.50 inches. The miniatures are approximately 1.75 inches tall with a diameter of about 1.50 inches. Each casting is made in local Devon clay and hand painted by local artists. Each has the name of the character etched in its back so you know who they are while reading or singing the story about their eventful adventure.  We know you will enjoy the collection that will become a center of attraction in your home. They make fantastic holiday gifts for coworkers as well as for yourself. We are running low in our inventory as this gift set in both sizes has been very popular.

PLANT WATERERS
Just place us in the pot near the flower and fill us with water.

Our stems are porous so we will water your plant while you are away.

Our collection of plant waterers are popular inexpensive gifts for women and coworkers; handmade and handpainted with pride by the Widecombe pottery. They have been one of our top 10 holiday gifts over the past years, as they are unique, functional, decorative, hand painted and inexpensive. The upper portion is hand-painted and glazed to make it water tight, but the lower spike is porous, allowing the water to moisten the soil as it dries, keeping the roots of the potted plant moist. The recipient will be able to leave for the weekend knowing their plants will be well taken care of while they are away.

We have seen many plant waterers during our visits to British trade shows, but find these unique women's gifts as well as great inexpensive general gifts for any occasion.  The Wellington Boot is the number one favorite with the hedgehog running a close second. The turtle and frog are tied for third place.

EGG CUPS AND PIE BIRD (FUNNELS)

It is then cooled for 24 hours, painted by local artists, then cooked again for another 8 hours before being cooled then glazed before its last 8 hours in the kiln. Each egg cup measure between 2-3 inches in height and the pie bird stands 4 inches tall.
